For the second consecutive week unbeaten ladder leader Lindenow South Glenaladale has chased down a small total with ease in Bairnsdale Cricket Association “A” grade cricket.
Just seven days after defeating last year’s grand finalist Meerlieu by nine wickets, the Bulls made short work of another 2023/24 finalist, St Mary’s Nagle, winning by eight wickets.
Nagle skipper Ricky Tatnell won the toss and elected to bat at the Lindenow South Recreation Reserve and the Saints were quickly in trouble at 2/11 with only Tatnell (21) and Brandon Sauer (20) showing any real commitment to bat time. When Sauer departed, things quickly capitulated.
So quick that Griffin Sherritt finished the innings with a hat-trick to finish with 3/7 from less than three overs.
The Bulls are looming as the side to beat in 2024/25 with an attack that has plenty of potency and variety.
Other wicket takers were Seth Smith (3/21), Mel Irish (2/26), Logan Dunkley (1/10) and Jamie Donnelly (1/6).
Nagle was bowled out for just 85 inside 26 overs on a wicket that had few tricks, but against a quality bowling attack which was on song.
A Bulls victory was never in doubt, chasing down the non-competitive total inside 20 overs with very little fuss.
Nathan King (18) impressed in his first hit out for his new club after moving from Lakes Entrance before he was trapped leg before wicket by Tatnell (1/8).
Fellow opener Scott Dare (34) and gun Haydn Erfurth (17) were the not out batsmen when a halt was called to proceedings not long after tea.
