New station opened

Bairnsdale Fire Brigade officially opened its new state-of-the-art station last Saturday.
The new station, built at a cost of $2.5 million, replaces the old Main Street station in which the brigade operated out of for a remarkable 95 years. The Bairnsdale Citizens band played as firefighters marched to the beat of the drum outside the new Calvert Street facility.
The station was officially opened by CFA Deputy Chief Officer, Trevor Owen, and Bairnsdale Fire Brigade Captain, Aaron Lee.
It has been a long road to completion since local member Tim Bull announced funding for the project in 2019.
The new building was professionally completed by local contractors, Cadbuild Construction, with the local brigade, through diligent fundraising over a longer period, raising more than $250,000 towards the new  project - an outstanding effort by local members and the brigade auxiliary.
