PODCAST - INTERVIEW WITH LAKES ENTRANCE COAST GUARD VOLUNTEER, MICK SMALLWOOD

In this episode, Byron Smith talks with Mick Smallwood, Rescue Skipper for the Lakes Entrance Coast Guard (LECG).

Although he works full-time as the Print Department Manager at James Yeates in Bairnsdale (the company that produces this podcast), Mick has been actively involved in the LECG for more than two decades.

He has held various roles with the LECG –  including Com-mander – and been involved in scores of local training exercises and real-life water rescues.  

In this informative and insightful podcast, Mick talks about how he first became involved with the Coast Guard, the role it plays in the local community, and the dedicated volunteers who donate their time and energy to keeping it on the water.

He also explains the best ways to stay safe when boating on the Gippsland Lakes or ‘outside the Entrance’, and what to do if your boat hits trouble.
