Thousands at field days

Thousands at field days

Despite the wet weather, this year's East Gippsland Field Days drew thousands of visitors who flocked to check out all things farming and agriculture.
Around 260 exhibitors packed into the Bairnsdale Aerodrome over the two days, an increase compared to last year's total, with 3000 visitors  making their way through the gates on Friday, while 1200 braved the elements on Saturday.
East Gippsland Field Days chair, Martin Woodward, said the predicted bad weather was a contributing factor to the decrease in visitor numbers.
"I'd say it (the weather) was a major contributor, I think that was why most people went on Friday rather than Saturday," Mr Woodward said.
"But it could have been much, much worse."
