Holidaying at Echo Bend Camping is always a great place to get away to, especially during summer – it’s not too far from Bairnsdale on the Lindenow-Dargo Road.
“We did have a reasonable number of campers staying to celebrate Christmas in a bush setting,” owner Julie Webb said.
“It was a little quieter than previous years, which could be due to being mid-week or the current financial times for families.”
By the time New Year’s Eve was approaching the camp park certainly filled up. Approximately 100 campers gathered, sang and danced to see the New Year in, entertained by local musician Ben Cawood.
“The weather was ideal for people to go swimming in The Mitchell River nearby, or to take day trips to the beaches,” Julie said.
“Most people now have returned to work, with just a few sites being taken throughout the week with travellers from either Melbourne or New South Wales.
“Now is a great time to escape before the next peak time. We have had lots of people staying from nearby places like Lindenow, Briagolong, Maffra, just far enough away to give themselves a break from the normal duties at home or work.”
