Wild Cherry Steiner School is a small but dynamic and growing school based in Bairnsdale.
From its humble beginnings the school was created with enthusiasm and energy by a small group of parents. It has now grown to be a viable and respected alternative to mainstream education in the area.
Situated in a beautiful historic building, the school has now reached the point where it needs to stretch its legs and grow.
The first step in this development arrived the week before school started. A new custom-designed classroom from local entrepreneurs Built QA was delivered and commissioned ready for the 2025 school year.
This is a major undertaking for the company who have never done this type of work before, but it opens up the possibility of sales throughout Victoria and even Australia, as the company looks to develop a new market.
While the new building covers the immediate growth needs of the school, it won’t be long before more space is needed. To this end a site in Johnsonville has been purchased. Four more relocatable classrooms will be designed and constructed by Built QA. These will be placed on site in the near future ready for the school to move to its new home.
Following the school boards determination to use as much local expertise and talent as possible, local building designer Mark Simnett Building Designs has imagined and created a stunning plan for the permanent primary school which will be constructed as soon as funds allow.
The relocatable classrooms will then become a home for secondary students as the school transitions into a P/12 campus.
But the excitement doesn’t end there with Mark being well advanced in the design of the new early childhood/kindergarten complex which will also be homed on the Johnsonville site.
The intent is to eventually cater for each child’s education needs from pre-school to the end of their secondary school life on one site.
