Clifton Creek Tennis Club recently hosted its version of “The Open”.
Fresh from participation by some of the family club members in pre-Australian Open activities at Melbourne Park, the local club hosted a day of fun activities and doubles matches on February 1.
The warm sunny weather encouraged many participants, some of whom were new to Clifton Creek.
Coach and facilitator Mike Spruzen organised a mix of fun activities and doubles matches for the day, catering to the variety of age groups and skills.
All participants were allocated to one of the two teams named Madison Keys and Jannik Sinner.
Team points were allocated to the winners of matches and games, with team Keys edging slightly ahead by the end of the competition.
The success of the day was largely due to coach Spruzen’s dedication and expertise in making sure that everyone who participated found the day to be fun and enjoyable.
There were lots of laughs and many new connections were made, with local community member, John Ireland, preparing a beautiful meal to complete a great day.
As a community affected by the Black Summer Bushfires, the Clifton Creek Tennis Club was able to receive funding through Gippsland Community Foundation for this event.
