Class action looming

by Bairnsdale Advertiser
5 October 2021
in Local News

A law firm which has roots in both Victoria and New South Wales is preparing to launch a class action against Kalbar.
Mitry Lawyers has placed a large advertisement in the Bairnsdale Advertiser inquiring if anyone had been affected by the activity Kalbar Operations (previously Kalbar Resources, Kalbar Limited) had been undertaking in East Gippsland over the past seven years.
In a statement, Rick Mitry said he had been instructed to commence a ‘Class Action’ on behalf of anyone who has been adversely affected by the actions of Kalbar Operations and their employees.
“This class action is about Kalbar’s alleged behaviour and the resultant effect on class members, including, but not limited to psychological, financial and medical effects,” he said.
“The behaviours might include misinformation, contradictory information, the way they
(Kalbar) have conducted their community consultations, interruptions to business and/or lifestyle, undue pressure, unprofessional conduct, misrepresentation, intimidation and harassment.”
