BOISDALE BRIAGOLONG
2024 position: Premiers (14 wins)
Coaching panel: Jake and Kade Renooy (senior coaches), Ryan Peel (seconds coach) and Mark McDonald (thirds coach).
Vibe check: Good attendance with more numbers in previous years, the Bombers are fit and ready to go. Enjoyed good pre-season hitouts against Sale City and Rosedale.
Ins: James Huts, Daniel Stubbe, Declan Scriven, Jude Scriven, Kade Renooy, Jordan Stubbe (all Maffra), Jarrad Neilson (Buchan) and Harry Swarski (returned).
Outs: Trayvon Stretch (Avalon), Junior Bradshaw and Andrew Quirk (both injury) and Ben Missen (Bairnsdale).
Game style: Hard to play against but when they have the ball they want to move it quickly through the middle, while planning team-first football.
Players to watch: Best on ground in last year’s grand final, Tom Jolly. Jude Scriven from the Maffra thirds is looking like being a great addition. Ryan Marshall has had a great pre-season and will hold down centre half back.
Wildcard: Jordan Stubbe is fit as he has ever been, capable of causing plenty of headaches in the midfield and up forward.
Expectations: “Obviously to go back-to-back, the window is still open and we are looking to cash in,” co-coach Kade Renooy said.
Analysis: The side to beat, have strengthened the list of the back of a premiership. Quirk is a huge loss, but Huts a like-for-like replacement. Kade Renooy is young and at the top of his powers, expect him to be in the middle of everything.
