Bairnsdale’s Mal Siely won the Victorian State Title in the Limited Sportsmans division at the Lang Lang Speedway in the Western District of the state last weekend.
The event brought together the state’s best racers in the class to decide who the best of the best for season 2024/25.
Siely left from pole position in the final and was quickly free wheeling in the lead, his only real concern negotiating his way through the traffic as he began to lap the stragglers.
A mid-race accident brought the field back together, but Siely was quickly away and back in total control when the race restarted.
Former champion Jock Baker battled hard for second, while another Bairnsdale
member, Dan Hurley finished third, with Darren Adams having a good night crossing in fifth.
The experienced and wily Siely is like a good wine, he just get better and better with age, always tough to beat when the flag goes down for the start in any race.
