There were no surprises in the opening round of Omeo netball, with the top three teams from last year all comfortable winners.
Omeo-Benambra unfurled last year’s premiership flag in style, outclassing Swifts Creek in the local derby by a mammoth 46 goals, indicating that they will again be the side to beat.
Last year’s runner up Swan Reach, despite losing several key players, impressed
beating Buchan by 23 goals, with coach Danni Ryan leading the way.
In the closest game of the round, Lindenow South were too solid for Bruthen who weren’t at full strength, with a couple of players having to double up.
The Swampies victorious 31-20 on the new courts at Bruthen.
With Easter this weekend, the next round of matches will be on April 26, with Buchan welcoming Omeo Benambra, Swifts Creek at home to Bruthen, while Lindenow South and Swan Reach will do battle at the the Swamp.
