Nagle staff to reunite

by
12 May 2025
in Local News

Following a recent catch-up between old friends, several ex-staff members from Nagle College decided it was time for a reunion of staff from their era and as a result, a planning committee was formed to put some flesh on the bones of the idea.

Those ex-staff were at Nagle during the 1980s and 1990s and it was agreed that it would be a wonderful outcome if as many as possible from that era and their partners were to able to gather, visit their past place of employment, share memories from that time and to catch-up on the more recent pathways that lives have taken.

Accordingly, the committee chose the King’s Birthday weekend of Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8 as being an appropriate weekend for people to gather.

The program for the weekend will start on Saturday, June 7 with a guided tour of the college.

Attendees are asked to gather at the college office (turn right at the internal roundabout) in time for a 2pm start. It was agreed, that given the time since some had been to Nagle, many will be astounded by the growth and changes that have taken place since.

The reunion will continue that evening (June 7) for dinner at the Wy Yung Pub.

The Nagle crowd is able to gather from 5.30pm in a venue that will allow mingling and conversation to occur. Attendees will be expected to cover the cost of their food and drinks.

It is hoped that some will come with memorabilia and tales that will entertain the gathering.

People who register to attend will be forwarded with a contact list (also available on arrival) of the many hospitality venues in Bairnsdale and surrounding district, the idea being that some may decide to continue the reunion with others over lunch on the Sunday at a venue of their choosing.

An important aspect of planning is to spread the word and the planning committee asks that any interested person reading this article might contact others with the details.

It is vital that those wishing to attend the college tour and dinner at the Wy Yung Pub, reply by the RSVP date of Friday, May 23.

They can do so by contacting committee members Kay Brazier, Frank Brown-Graham, Ann Clack and Bernie Hodder.

The committee hopes that many of the staff from the 80s and 90s get this message and decide to rock up to Bairnsdale on the King’s Birthday Weekend to renew acquaintances with colleagues from the past.
