Buchan made it three wins from its last four outings, easily eclipsing Swifts Creek at the Swifts Creek Recreation Reserve in round five of the Omeo and District Football Netball League.
The Cavemen went up the mountain full of confidence with Cameron Edwards and Joshua McCarthy back in line up, joined by Zane Perkins who impressed playing for Stratford a couple of seasons ago.
Sam Stewart was an interesting addition for the Demons, doing battle against his old Wy Yung teammate Jai Nicholls, who suited up for the Cavemen for the second time for the season.
The Demons were restricted to just two goals for the day, a disappointing return from a side that contains Connor Harvey, Jay Robbie, Brodie Cameron, Andrew Sandy and Beau Hack.
Buchan co-captain Tyson Siddle enjoyed the freedom of playing closer to goal in a team that is trying to win, not playing for survival, finishing with six goals.
The win cements the Cavemen’s hold onto fourth spot, now sitting two games and considerable percentage ahead of the Demons who are languishing in fifth place with just a single win, after making its way into the grand final in 2024.
Best players for Buchan were Jack Brick, McCarthy, Siddle, Perkins, James Woodgate and the consistent Cohen Manning.
Cameron, Stewart, Andrew Sandy, Bittner, James Turner and Patrick Cusack all tried hard for the struggling Demons.
Buchan will host Swan Reach in a big game for both clubs this week while the Demons will host arch rival Omeo Benambra in the second edition of the last year’s grand final replay.
