Inner Wheel raises funds for a number of worthwhile causes.
Cord Blood Research is one which the Bairnsdale club strives to achieve a good result, along with all Inner Wheel Groups throughout Australia.
Research is vitally important to further develop the work of scientists in the use of umbilical cord blood for use in immunotherapy in Childhood Acute Myeloid Leukemia and other diseases.
Cord Blood Stem Cells are used to treat lymphatic conditions and vital research into neuroprotective therapies before and after birth.
The study of immune cells at birth and early infancy can assist greatly in research into diabetes in children.
The walk held on Monday, May 12, was an example of the many activities Inner Wheel is involved in which provides funds for valuable research.
The walk departed Nicholson Jetty at 9.30am with a walk alongside the Nicholson River to the East Gippsland Rail Trail taking in Nicholson River Landcare Group’s Michael Oxer Reserve and Station Walk, returning for refreshments at the Nicholson General Store.
Several options of terrain were offered to suit all abilities.
Members had an enjoyable morning supporting this worthwhile cause and were highly delighted with the results from sponsorship received which will assist with further research.
Inner Wheel Club of Bairnsdale wish to thank all in community who donated to this worthy cause.
