Three locals – Dr Margaret Niemann, of Bairnsdale, Ross Scott, of Banksia Peninsula, and David McCoy, of Bairnsdale – were awarded Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division in the King’s Birthday Honours List.
Dr Niemann received her OAM for service to medicine as a general practitioner, Mr Scott for service to conservation and the environment, and Mr McCoy for service to Australian rules football.
