After a huge success earlier in the year addressing parents, former AFL star Nathan Burke will return to the Sale Football Netball Club on Monday, June 30 for two free sessions designed to inspire and empower junior athletes aged 12–18 across all sports.
The event is being made possible by a community grant from Gippsland Critical Minerals.
The 12-18 girls and parents event will start at 4pm, with the the 12-18 boys and parents session beginning at 5pm.
Burke is former Australian rules footballer with St Kilda and former coach of the Western Bulldogs team in the AFL Women’s competition.
A tough rover, Burke is considered one of the most courageous footballers to play for the St Kilda Football Club.
He set the club record for most game, 323, at his retirement, which remained the benchmark until broken by former teammate Robert Harvey in round seven of 2006.
Dozens of concussions during Burke’s career led to him using a helmet. He has been inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
He will speak on topics including attitude, confidence and resilience, accountability and teamwork, female-specific challenges and how to overcome them and understanding that sport is what you do, not who you are.
