Senior dancer at Urban Funk Dance (UFD), Tahlia Hare, has been competing at local and regional competitions for
many years.
She began dancing in the troupes in 2018 and then began competing as a soloist.
Teacher Tara Murray has worked
with Tahlia initially in jazz, and then progressing to contemporary, lyrical,
character and hip hop.
This year Tahlia has achieved huge success, winning in all her categories at the most recent Gippsland Stars Dance competition, and receiving the age group aggregate award and star dancer winner for her
jazz solo.
At the recent East Gippsland Performing Arts Eisteddfod, Tahlia placed top two in all her categories, including first place for her hip hop solo.
This solo was a collaboration with Tara and hip hop teacher Kelli Matheson, and earned her an Australian Youth Dance Festival scholarship.
She also won for the 16 years and over adjudicators encouragement award.
“Since beginning her training at UFD a decade ago, we have all noticed Tahlia’s passion and commitment to dance and performance,” UFD principal Casey Davidge said.
“She has been a fantastic role model for dancers, particularly here in a country town, that hard work and a true passion for dance will take you far, and all of her teachers here at Urban Funk Dance are very proud of her, and also for the dedication put in from Tara to help Tahlia achieve
her success.
“We also acknowledge the support and many kilometres travelled from her mum Jodi, and her family to cheer Tahlia on whenever she hits the stage.”
