Unbeaten Lucknow continues winning, last Saturday outclassing Lindenow by 12 goals in round 11 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League at the Lucknow Recreation Reserve.
The Magpies put the match out of the reach of the Cats early with five unanswered goals in the first term, restricting its opponent to just one goal in the first half as they led by 50 points at half time.
Jake Richards (four goals) was the main target up forward for Lucknow, marking strongly against undersized opponents.
He was ably assisted by John Gooch and Nick Mooney who both contributed two each and are more than capable of kicking bags if the play flows through them.
The second half was more of arm wrestle, though still controlled the Magpies, but Lindenow did do a much better job of getting back and filling the holes.
Lucknow’s better players were led by Rhys Perkins who has rejoined the club after nine years in Queensland.
He got great support from Glen Perkins, Richards, Ashley Smith, Link Mckenna and James Sanford.
The Cats tried hard but had no answers for the brilliance of the Magpies in the first half.
Among the best players for Lindenow were Peter Harrison, Tom O’Leary, coach Brett Waddell, backmen Cooper Shaw, Lucas Lakay and Kane Callaway.
With all sides enjoying a week for the mid season bye, it will give the Magpies two weeks to prepare for its top of the table clash with arch rival Wy Yung.
The Cats will welcome Orbost Snowy Rovers to the Lindenow Recreation Reserve.
