It was another action packed card of racing at the Sale Showgrounds last Sunday night, with the
Sale Greyhound Racing Club hosting a 12-race event.
Training honours on the night were shared by Metung’s Harley Whelan and Lara’s Robert Camerilleri, who both prepared doubles.
Three members of Giffard West’s McMahon family also prepared victors, with Kimberley, Emily and Marcus all leading back a winner.
Time honours over the sprint trip were recorded by Aston Corleone ($2.60), who led from start to finish in the fast class race of night for Catani trainer Graeme Jose in a slick time of 24.398 seconds.
Whelan won with My Name’s Evelyn ($6.80) in mixed over the 510 metres, running the fastest time for that distance for the night, an impressive 28.777 seconds.
His other winner was Zinging Hot ($1.60), who hung on to win over the 435 metres, making it four wins from eight starts.
Camilleri won with Living ($6) and Paw Nevada ($2.10), while Ripplebrook trainer, Jacqueline Berry saluted with Reggae Mist ($3.30)
The McMahon’s were successful with Dr Harold (Kimberley), Dr Zaid (Emily) and Dr Tessa (Marcus).
Another Giffard West-based trainer Jennifer Gill was a winner when Joey ($2.20) won the 510 metre maiden, a race where all five runners were trained at Giffard West.
Former racehorse trainer Brad Stockdale was pleased to win with Hafnium ($5), a name shared with a racehorse that was a winner a couple years
ago when trained by his wife
Catherine Martindale.
Yinnar South trainer Ben Joske prepared the quinella in the final event on the program with
Jumbuk Punky ($4.40) running down Jumbuk Gerhard ($5.40) late. Kennel supporters were delighted with the $9.30 quinella dividend.
The Sale Greyhound Club will host twilight meetings on Wednesday and Sunday this week.
