Metung trainer Harley Whelan had a night out at the Sale Greyhounds meeting last Sunday, training a treble highlighted by kennel star Lakeview Emily ($1.10) winning impressively over 510 metres.
It was Lakeview Emily’s first win from three attempts on her home track and
her 26th win from 62
career starts, recording a sensational 28.47, around four lengths outside the track record.
The valuable bitch has now amassed prizemoney of more than 628,000.
Whelan’s other two winners recorded the fastest two times for the night over the 435 metre trip.
Free For All chaser My Name’s Eden (1.70) ran the fastest time of the evening, a slick 24.28, only challenged by kennelmate Whipping It ($4.60), who impressed running 24.34 in a mixed 4/5 event.
Flying Doormat ($1.60) made it 11 wins from 22 starts, zipping across from box eight to win the much sought-after grade five final in 24.538.
Popular Johnsonville trainer Robert Reinke won the first race on the program with first starter Minter Scorch ($12.30), who speared the lids and hung on grimly in 24.900.
Heat two of the maiden saw Giffard West’s McMahon family continue their productive recent run with Dr Louis ($9.30) saluting for Emily in 24.867.
The second legs of the McMahon double occurred in race nine when Dr Kai ($5.70) worked home strongly to win for matriarch Judith.
Sharon and Jeff Chignell from Rosedale trained the quinella in race three, with littermates Thunder Rose ($1.80) and Mad Hatter
Rose ($17).
Thunder Rose came from last for a huge win in 24.95. The Chignells also won race 10 with Matilda Rose ($1.30), who impressed making it back-to-back victories, running 24.83.
Ned McDonald trained the quinella in race four with Engelke Road ($1.90) holding off the fast-finishing Lakeview Nola ($11.10) comfortably in the distance race of the evening.
Kelly Jane ($4.60) was successful in the final race for Yinnar South’s Ben Joske, while Kilmany-based Justin Bowman was a winner with Top Kade ($6.30) putting his best foot forward in 24.58.
Sale has two meetings scheduled for Wednesday (day meeting) and Sunday (twilight) this week.
