It was a big day for the Moncrieff family when Emily and Paul Moncrieff opened their new Spin and Sparkle laundromat in Service Street Bairnsdale.
Chair of East Gippsland Marketing, Andrea Brown, was on hand to officially open the new laundromat, with a difference.
Emily said she and her husband had been planning and researching the new business model for the past 12 months.
With its close proximity to the local coffee shops, pharmacy and reasonable parking, this new laundromat is well positioned to become a meeting place, get people out of their homes and has space available to charge your phone or work on a computer.
“Down the track we hope to hold laundromat sip and spin nights where local people can meet, do the washing and have a social drink or read a book from the book nook,” Emily said.
A dedicated pet washer will also be arriving in mid August for pet owners pet gear too.
As well as the core business, Emily hopes to develop people with children at school who may wish to get an ABN and start up a wash-dry-fold business working within Spin and Sparkle.
Ms Brown said she loved Emily’s fresh enthusiasm and community focus.
“I love what they are going to offer with their new business model supporting other people,” she said.
Emily’s uncle, Greg Scott, an experienced businessman in the car wash and laundromat business, has been the Emily and Paul’s mentor with the new venture and because of Emily’s engaging personality and drive to make the business a success, Greg said he was quietly confident the business would go well in his old hometown.
Spin and Sparkle will operate seven days a week, 6am until 7pm.
