Adding to the portfolio

16 December 2018
in Local News

Sitting for his third term in the Victorian Parliament, Member for Gippsland East, Tim Bull, has bolstered his standing by adding to his shadow ministerial portfolio.

It was announced on Friday afternoon that Mr Bull will remain the Shadow Minister for Carers and Disability and Racing, while also taking over the Shadow Minister roles for Veterans Affairs and Fishing and Boating in the Michael O’ Brien led Coalition.

Mr Bull will no longer be Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, that role taken over by leader of the Nationals and Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Peter Walsh.

Mr Bull said he was pleased to maintain two previous portfolios while adding two new titles.

“They are all areas where I have an interest or a history,” Mr Bull said.

“I look forward to taking on the veterans role for the first time. Not only Victoria, but East Gippsland has a rich history that needs to be recognised and commemorated.

“Pleased to have the carers and disability title again as we navigate the complex transition into the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme).

“Racing has always been a passion and pleased to take on the new portfolio of boating and fishing.”

Leader of the Opposition, Mr O’Brien, said the upcoming four years serve as an exciting opportunity for the new Shadow Cabinet.

“The Liberal Nationals’ core values are positive and inclusive,” he said.

“We believe in opportunity, that everybody should be free to achieve their potential.

“This new Shadow Cabinet is a balance of skills and experience with an injection of new talent to help the Liberal Nationals win the contest of ideas over how best to take Victoria forward.”

Mr Bull retained his seat among the lower house of parliament comfortably in the November State Election, winning 56.73 per cent of the first preference vote – one of the larger seat wins across the state.
