The much-travelled and celebrated Victoria Welsh Choir is returning to Bairnsdale on Sunday, October 12, at 2.30pm, with a performance to be staged at the Bairnsdale Uniting Church in Lucknow.
The Victoria Welsh Choir sings in the distinctive four-part harmony of traditional Welsh male choirs and is renowned for the quality of its singing, relaxed, informal style and the good humour of its concerts.
The choir’s diverse repertoire includes Welsh, Celtic and popular songs, opera choruses, Broadway melodies and Afro-American spirituals.
The choir has toured the United Kingdom five times, receiving many standing ovations, and regularly tours throughout Victoria and interstate.
Musical director, Rushan Hewawasam, was appointed in 2024 following the retirement of Faleiry Koczkar after 30 years. Rushan has recently returned from a concert tour of Sri Lanka with the Victoria Welsh Choir and Melbourne-based Sri Lankan Choir, Euphony.
Coming to Bairnsdale on the invitation of the Rotary Club of Mitchell River, the choir guarantees guests will leave the concert with “a smile on your face and a glow in your heart”.
Tickets are available at the Potted Pear and Uniting Church Op Shop in Lucknow.
This is a musical afternoon that you will not want to miss.
