The much-anticipated 2025 Remote Control Racing Australia Victorian State Titles will be held at the Eagle Point Remote Control Car Complex (EPRCCC) from Friday to Sunday.
The club recently held a final warm up day and an opportunity to gather some much-needed exposure to the unique track.
And they travelled from near and far to get a taste of what is in store, racers getting the first chance to run on the revamped and rebuilt circuit.
For some in attendance it was their first visit and they were not disappointed, with some great racing and even greater battles throughout the day, an entree of things to come.
In Nitro Buggy, Tanner and Gavin White, on their first visit to the club, were quick to adapt to the track, providing some early pace, while local drivers Tom Gilbert and James Marshall were not to be outdone, producing just as close lap times and consistency.
The dark horse in qualifying was first international driver, Sungryong Lim, hailing all the way from Korea.
Gavin White prevailed in qualifying, with Tanner hot on his heels and Gilbert in third.
The start of the 30-minute final provided some close father and son battles, with Gavin going onto to take a comfortable win, with Tanner in second and Gilbert rewarded for consistent driving, local knowledge, and some misfortune for the others, placing third.
Ebuggy fielded the most drivers, 11 in total, and being a new layout it was anyone’s guess as to who would be victorious come the finals.
Early on in qualifying, and having only recently returned to the country, Nick Lewis adapted the quickest, and continued his dominance, winning each of the three qualifiers.
There was a mix of drivers taking the second and third positions throughout qualifying, with Alan Zammit securing second and Jason Addis in third.
The Triple “A” mains provided a number of close battles throughout the field and a different top three for each.
In the end Lewis took the win, with Zammit and Addis in the placings.
Truggy was a mix of both nitro and electric, local Llewyn Fry set the pace early on in qualifying and continued his pace and consistency throughout qualifying to take top spot going into the Triple “A” main.
There was a mix of nitro and electric truggy drivers battling for the minor qualifying positions, with Marc Beattie, Shannon Gilbert and Adam Phillips all in contention throughout qualifying.
Phillips took the win in the first of the three mains, Fry the second and Rodney Allen the third.
Fry showing the consistency he is known for at Eagle Point, would go on to take the outright win from Phillips and Allan.
All eyes are now on this weekend, an extraordinary opportunity for the local community to come together and witness some of the best talent in the region compete for the state title.
Practice will be on Friday, leading into qualifiers on Saturday and finals racing on the Sunday.
The canteen will be open the entire weekend serving delicious sausage rolls, pies and a variety of snack and drinks.
The event promises to be an exhilarating experience, filled with high-speed action, intense competition, and a fantastic atmosphere that you won’t want to miss.
Whether you are a die-hard racing enthusiast or someone looking for a fun day out with family and friends, this event has something for everyone.
