The first round of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) 20/20 competition was played last week.
Paynesville defeated Lakes Entrance, and Meerlieu defeated West Bairnsdale.
The Seagulls batted first and were disappointingly dismissed in just 13 overs for just 79 at AJ Freeman, with import Scott Tite top scoring with 22 from 15 balls after opening the batting.
Sam East was the only other player to reach double figures, making 12 from 16 deliveries.Isaac Love (3/18), Tom Love (3/14) and Nathan Schoultz (4/10) impressing with the ball for Paynesville.
The Gulls knocked the total off in 10 overs for loss of just four wickets, Rodney Clack top scoring with 30 from 10 balls, including four massive sixes.
Noah Bennett (13 not out) and Lachie Wilmott (13)
also productive.
Kaleb Day was the leading wicket taker for Lakes, taking 2/9 from two overs.
In the other game Meerlieu batted first at the MCG and accumulated 6/133 from their 20 overs.
Oliver Simpson (24), Mehul Jirage (18) and Connor
Mitchell (13) led the run scorers, with Oscar Clarke taking 2/21 for West.
In reply, West could only reach 5/123, with Brodie Anderson making 35 and Ryan Halford an impressive 42 from just 26 balls.
Round two will be played this week.
