It certainly was an interesting days cricket on Saturday, the culmination of Bairnsdale Cricket Association round 12, with only two points now separating the top three sides on the ladder.
The round contained a tie, two outright results, a washout, and a first innings loss that was converted into a second innings victory.
Orbost is now back on top of competition ladder from Lindenow South Glenaladale by percentage, with Meerlieu only two points away and looming large.
A gap has now opened up to fourth-placed West Bairnsdale, who still appear to be relative-ly safely placed for a finals berth, with Wy Yung needing to beat Meerlieu and St Marys Nagle in the final two rounds to be any chance to displace them.
A win by Wests against either Lakes Entrance or Orbost would confirm their spot.
Lucknow and West Bairnsdale played a dra-matic draw at the Bairnsdale Oval on Saturday, in a tight and tense day of cricket.
Resuming at 6/60, Wests quickly plummeted to 7/80 and any chance of victory looked forlorn at 9/80, but emerging youngster Tom Hudson (52 not out from 82 balls) and Jack Lind (1 from 38) dug in the fight.
