Bairnsdale Secondary College has honoured its highest-achieving students, announcing the 2025 Dux recipients and celebrating a strong year of VCE and VCE Vocational Major results.
Mary Poynton has been named the college’s VCE Dux after achieving an exceptional ATAR of 92.2. Her achievement also earned her the prestigious Townsend Award, presented annually to the student with the highest ATAR.
The college said Mary’s result reflects her sustained commitment and passion for learning throughout the year.
Lillian Amendola has been recognised as the college’s VCE VM Dux, receiving the Fischer Award for her outstanding performance across the VCE Vocational Major program. Her success highlights consistent effort and excellence across a diverse mix of practical and academic studies.
The college also acknowledged the achievements of 20 high-performing VCE students, including:
– One student with an ATAR above 90
– Six students with an ATAR above 80
– Twelve students with an ATAR above 70
– Six students who achieved study scores of 40 or above
Bairnsdale Secondary College said this year’s results reflect continued improvement across average ATARs, study scores and English outcomes.
In a message to the school community, the college expressed gratitude to staff, families and supporters whose encouragement and guidance helped shape student success.
To the graduating class of 2025, the message was simple: “There’s more beyond the reef — there is a whole ocean waiting for you.”
