The Bairnsdale Clay Target Club Christmas Shoot recently took place, featuring four by 15 target events.
Prizes were paid up to fifth, which impressed the fantastic turnout of 72 nominated shooters.
There were shoot-offs after each event, and it was great to see some friendly competition across the grades and everyone having some fun.
The open high gun resulted in a tie between Graham Reed, Matt Haw and Dimitrios Kannas, each scoring an impressive 89/90 and earning themselves their names on the Lenny and Doreen Glover Memorial Shield.
During the Christmas shoot on Saturday, a life membership was awarded to Ray Bracey for his tireless commitment to the Bairnsdale Clay Target Club, its members and visitors alike.
Bracey has been the first point of contact for many visitors and can be found at the club almost every Wednesday and Saturday ensuring facilities are open and available.
Bracey does a bit of everything, offering some advice for new shooters, keeping the trap houses full of targets, installing signage, assisting with school events and opening the facilities to trades people.
A stalwart member of the club and the wider shooting community, Bracey can also be found out at the field and game pressing the buttons on the five stand or up the creek at Tambo Valley keeping a close eye on proceedings.
Bracey was somewhat lost for words when presented with the award by Mark Leadoux and Bevan Bastin, this was compounded further when he spotted his partner, Jan, hiding in the crowd.
