Bairnsdale VICSES was called to nearly 30 requests for assistance as winds swept the Bairnsdale region on Sunday afternoon and into the evening.
Volunteers worked mainly to the west and south of Bairnsdale from early afternoon and into the night. They also attended a smaller number of incidents on Monday morning.”Our members removed trees from roads and from people’s access ways in a sustained response,” Bob Kyle, Bairnsdale VICSES Unit Controller, said.
“We were aided by East Gippsland Shire, VicRoads and Ausnet on a number of instances. The cooperation is highly effective.
“Our members thank community members for their patience. We wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas.”
