While he may be heading toward his mid 80s, East Gippsland cattle producer, Barry Newcomen, shows no signs of slowing down.
Mr Newcomen runs a Hereford stud in the rolling hills of Ensay with his wife, Topsy.
In the decades he has been farming, Mr Newcomen has experienced the peaks and troughs that go hand in hand with the unpredictable weather patterns that often afflict people on the land.
He has done it hard but rejoiced when the stars have aligned and produced good fortune.
In recent times, the market for well-bred cattle has been hot and Newcomen Herefords has been riding a wave of success with its sales.
