The Bairnsdale Cricket Association is set for an exciting crescendo to the “A” grade home and away season with fourth place up for grabs in what is looming as a tense afternoon’s cricket for the three legitimate contenders this Saturday.
The simple equation is that fourth-placed West Bairnsdale will need to chase down Orbost’s 256 to lock down a semi final.
If this doesn’t happen, Lucknow will need to defeat Bruthen outright, which as the scores sit at the end of day one, does appear a likely scenario.
If West can’t get over the line and Lucknow can’t bowl Bruthen out twice, Lakes Entrance, which has worked itself into a position to push for outright points, will need to maximise in its clash with Paynesville.
CAPTION: Lucknow stand-in skipper, Aaron Cameron, played a key role with the bat on day one of his side’s final round Bairnsdale Cricket Association “A” grade clash against Bruthen at Hudson-Alvin Oval last Saturday, but it’s his bowling which will be most important this Saturday as the Magpies hunt an outright victory and possibly a finals berth.
