It has been an extremely busy off-season for the Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) and the executive committee is looking forward to finally beginning the 2024/2025 season.
There have been significant changes to the BCA board from the previous year, which provides greater vision and scope for improving the BCA competition.
The association will still be led and guided by experienced administrator, Ian Kyle.
From an association point of view, the committee is excited to see the senior competition improve from 30 registered teams last season to 33 for the upcoming season.
This increase in participation comes off the back of growing junior and women’s competitions that will increase again this season.
Also, the fact all four senior grades of cricket last season were tightly contested has had a positive impact on levels of participation.
Although it is wonderful to see an increase in participation right the way across the association, this does come with some challenges when grading and fixturing. The BCA is thankful for all clubs for their openness and willingness to provide feedback throughout this process.
Obviously there is no perfect science to this aspect of country cricket, but the BCA is excited to get underway with the current fixture and looks forward to another season full of competitive cricket across all men’s, women’s and junior grades.
The BCA has thanked in advance the dedicated group of umpires that adjudicate matches weekly, knowing it wouldn’t be a game without them.
The last word comes from president.
“On behalf of the BCA, I would like to wish all clubs, their senior and junior teams, the best for a successful 2024/2025 season. Not only in the win/loss column, but also in regard to whole club development, creating inclusive practices, and promoting a high-level of sportsmanship,” Mr Kyle said.
“A” and “A” reserve matches start this Saturday.
