There has been mixed results for Golf East Gippsland at 2024 Country Week currently being played in the South West District.
The event started on Monday and will culminated today.
Both the men’s and women’s teams were victorious on one occasion in their two matches on day one of the event at the Clifton Springs Golf Club.
The ladies campaign began with a 4.5-2.5 loss to South Western, with the Bairnsdale duo of Nadine Martin and Sue Wood the only winners, with Lucy Haussegger (South Pines) having her match.
Fortunes improved dramatically in the afternoon with the girls, 6.5-.05 winners over Dalhousie.
Winners were Martin, Wood, Haussegger, Robin Walker (Newry), Celia Wallace and Tania Holmes (both South Pines).
Sale’s Joanne Ballinger halved her match.
The men began with a disappointing loss to Western, losing 5-2, Bairnsdale teammates Ashley Baylis and Noah Patterson the only winners.
East Gippsland got on the board in the afternoon, victorious 4-3 over North Eastern.
Winners were Baylis, Patterson, Kody McCormick (Bairnsdale) and Stuart Yates (Lakes Entrance).
The matches continued on Tuesday and Wednesday.
