Wy Yung Football Netball Club’s season finished on a high note recently with presentation night held at the Wy Yung Pub.
With the senior football and netball sides both defeated in the preliminary final, on the field the season ended in disappointment but that was all forgotten on awards night.
The major awards were won by Nathan Dennison and Caitlin Wright.
Dennison, in his first season at the club after a long career at Bairnsdale, picked up the senior best and fairest award, the Chris Woodward Medal. Dennison finished ahead of runner up Brad-Daniel, the ruckman/forward putting together another consistent season.
Wright was a dynamo in defence all season for the Tigers, her efforts seeing her pick up the Renee Scicluna Medal for the best and fairest player in “A” grade. Stevie Alvin was a consistent vote accumulator and her efforts saw her finish second.
The reserves best and fairest was taken out by veteran Craig Froud, who returned to club this year after a stint at Buchan.
Other netball best and fairest winners were Ash Wheeler (“B” grade), Kirbie Banks (“C” grade), Nikita Hayes (“D” grade), Sienna Anderson (under 17) and Lara Healey (under 15).
Ian Overy was the recipient of a life membership after many years of dedicated service to the Tigers.
Heidi Carter won the rising star award, while the club person of year awards went to Elise Clemm and Sue McNamara.
Plenty of club milestone certificates were issued, including to Renee Scicluna (350 club games), Kirbie Banks (250), Abbey Alvin (200) and Ash Wheeler (150).
