The Royal Flying Doctor Service’s (RFDS) national office has released its latest research report, Best for the Bush, Rural and Remote Health Base Line 2022.
The report highlights the stark health inequities that persist in Australia, noting people living in remote or very remote areas are 2.5 times more likely to be hospitalised for reasons that are potentially preventable.
The report identifies the biggest health issues for people living in the bush as being poor access to GP services, general dental clinics, nurse-led services and general mental health services.
