Traders from the Nicholson Street Mall will have their voices heard on national television tonight, with spokesperson Iain Cartney appearing on Channel 7 to advocate for the mall to be reopened as a fully operational retail precinct.
The call comes after ongoing concerns from shop owners and staff, including Kathleen Taylor, Anthony Scott, Jenny Kater and Wendy McPhan, over safety and management issues in the mall.
Over many months the traders have reported drug and alcohol-related incidents occurring, as well as threatening and anti-social behaviour.
Cartney and fellow traders will use the Channel 7 segment to highlight the challenges faced by local businesses and push for measures to improve safety and revitalise the mall for the community.
