The Bairnsdale Cricket Association under 13 grand final will be played tonight from 5pm at Blennerhassett Oval in Meerlieu.
The decider will feature the unbeaten Tussocks against St Mary’s Nagle in a rescheduled season finale, after last Friday night’s match was washed out when wild weather swept across the region.
Under competition rules, Meerlieu could have claimed the premiership following the washout.
However, in a commendable act of sportsmanship, coach Anthony Simpson opted to have the match replayed on an alternative date.
Cricket is the real winner, with both sides now earning the chance to contest the grand final — a fitting reward for their efforts throughout the season.
