Bairnsdale Uniting Church was excited to be visited by the Moderator of the Uniting Church in Australia in February.
Reverend Salesi Faupula and his wife came to Bairnsdale as part of the celebrations at Paynesville Uniting Church Faith Community’s 140 anniversary. But on the way there he called at our local church to deliver the message on the day.
He was welcomed by minister Rev. Ram Thanga, one of his former students.
Music on the day was provided by organist Jean Johnston and the Quinlan family plus singing from the Hillside Singers, a wonderful group of singers from Vanuatu.
There were visitors from Orbost, Lakes Entrance and Churchill Uniting Churches plus a good crowd of locals.
They also had a speaker from Uniting, the social justice arm of the Uniting Church, which works with local families in need of help.
Matt Julius spoke about the work the East Bairnsdale Community Hub does providing food, outreach activities and a place for local families to access government services.
It was a busy Sunday for Bairnsdale Uniting Church as later in the afternoon the Children and Family Outreach, Messy Church, held its first session for 2026.
