Echo Bend Camping Park experienced one of its busiest Labour Day long weekends in recent memory, with campsites filled from Friday midday through to Monday.
Despite overcast conditions, the park was buzzing as families, friends, and returning regulars made the most of the extended break.
Owners Julie and Geoff Webb reported a steady flow of arrivals, creating a lively atmosphere across the grounds. Campfires crackled, children explored the park and made new friends, while visitors embraced the cooler weather with walks in Mitchell River National Park, board games, barbecues, and relaxed downtime.
A group of friends enjoyed a catered
three-course meal on Saturday evening before heading out on a two-day canoe trip along the Mitchell River.
The strong turnout was a welcome boost for the park, a favourite destination for those seeking a peaceful getaway close to nature. Owner-managers thanked guests from near and far — including visitors from the Netherlands, England, Cape York, New South Wales, Melbourne, Swan Reach, Metung, Bairnsdale, and Fernbank — saying their support and good spirits helped make the weekend memorable for all.
