A heritage rail experience is set to return to Gippsland later this month, with the Gippsland Royal Train Shuttles offering passengers the opportunity to travel between Bairnsdale and Sale on a restored historic train service.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, will operate return shuttle services throughout the day, with departures from both Bairnsdale Railway Station and Sale Railway Station.
Organised by Spirited Rail Tours, the initiative will feature multiple services allowing passengers to board at different times, with opportunities to explore the restored carriages during the journey.
The experience includes access to heritage-style carriages such as the Yarra Car and State Car 4, which feature open platforms and allow passengers to move freely through the train during the trip.
Passengers travelling from Bairnsdale will be able to connect on shuttle services departing in the morning and afternoon, with
additional services operating from Sale during the middle of the day.
A small connecting bus service will also be available to assist passengers travelling between the railway and shopping precincts in Sale, expanding the experience beyond the train journey itself.
Ticket prices include return fares for
adults and children, with family packages
also available.
Organisers say the event is designed to provide a relaxed tourism experience that encourages visitors to explore Gippsland’s regional centres while engaging with Victoria’s rail heritage.
Safety and onboard conditions include standard rail travel requirements, with smoking and vaping prohibited on board and at stations, and passengers asked to arrive ahead of scheduled departures.
