Waterview Bakery in Paynesville has picked up one gold, two silver and a bronze medal in the recent Great Aussie Pie competition in Sydney.
Waterview Bakery’s prawn Alfredo pie took out the gold in the gourmet seafood category, the American chilli beef and honey chicken pies both won silver in the gourmet red meat and poultry categories respectively, while the creamy curry scallop pie came out with a bronze in the gourmet seafood category.
Bakery owner, Jo Hayes, said the announcement came as a shock.
“I just couldn’t believe it – I was shocked,” Ms Hayes said.
“I rang my husband and said ‘we won the gold!’”
It’s the first time the bakery has received a gold medal.
