The Newlands Arm Landcare Coastcare group recently hosted the fourth in a series of workshops run by Wildlife Unlimited and led by Laura Owen.
A keen group gathered to collect water samples from an area along the Dinni Barraak Walk near Forge Creek. Adults and children alike were amazed to see droplets of water teeming with life forms.
Various species of shrimp, fish, mites, beetles, bugs and worms were identified, with participants using reference charts and microscopes to examine the samples.
Two more workshops are planned for later in the year, including a longer session to be hosted by renowned bird expert Andrew Skeoch in late October, titled Listening Earth.
