A changeover has occurred in the local sheep world, with the Kyle family’s Ashley Park White Suffolk ewe flock at Goon Nure sold to Swifts Creek producers, Scott McCole and Sharon Miles, of Tambo White Suffolks.
Ashley Park stud principal, Ian Kyle, of Goon Nure, said he and his family had bred White Suffolks for 25 years but it was time to move on.
“We’re pleased someone will continue on with it, also that the ewes will stay in Gippsland, and we’ll still have someone here breeding good White Suffolks,” Mr Kyle said.
Of the White Suffolk dispersal, Mr Kyle said “The bottom line is we’re selling a paddock, and you get to an age where you can’t do it all and what you’d like to do isn’t always what you’re able to do.”
The Kyle family will keep their Poll Dosets, Border Leicesters and South Downs, which Mr Kyle said was enough to keep them out of trouble.
Scott McCole said he would be ‘mad not to take the opportunity’ to secure the flock.
