It will be a bumper day of action at the Bairnsdale Tennis Club this Saturday, July 4, with the highly anticipated Sustainable Regional Tennis Roadshow arriving in town.
Whether you are a player, parent, coach, volunteer, committee member, or simply a sports enthusiast who wants to see tennis continue to thrive in East Gippsland, the community event is well worth attending.
The roadshow focuses on building stronger, more sustainable grassroots clubs by directly supporting the network of people who make community sport happen. The events are specifically designed to equip schools, clubs, volunteers and coaches with the practical tools, training and confidence they need to foster local participation.
Attendees will have the opportunity to discover fresh ideas to grow the game, connect directly with Tennis Victoria staff, network with other regional volunteers, and explore new coaching and club development pathways.
A packed schedule ensures there is plenty to see and do throughout the day. The club’s regular Saturday Morning Matchplay kicks off the proceedings at 9am, closely followed by a popular social pickleball session running from
10am until noon.
The main Roadshow presentation will get into full swing from 12pm to 2pm, featuring a complimentary community barbecue lunch. Renowned coach Jon Watson will also be on-court, offering a fantastic opportunity for families to discover more about the junior Hot Shots program and Tennis Victoria’s diverse volunteer initiatives.
The learning and fun is carefully tailored to suit kids, adults and families alike. For those looking to make a full day of it, the club’s traditional Saturday afternoon social matchplay will follow the presentation.
Members and visitors down at the courts during the morning are encouraged to stay on for the afternoon festivities, while new faces are warmly invited to drop in for the lunch and roadshow.
The event is being supported by both the Bairnsdale and the Lakes Entrance Tennis and Pickleball clubs, reflecting a shared regional commitment to strengthening the future of the sport across East Gippsland. All are welcome to attend.
