East Gippsland Toastmasters is celebrating 25 years of helping locals find their voice — even when their knees, hands, and stomachs are all trying to resign.
Founded in Bairnsdale in 2001, the club has spent the past quarter-century supporting community members to build confidence, improve communication skills, and face one of life’s greatest challenges: speaking in public without pretending the fire alarm just went off.
Over the years, hundreds of East Gippslanders have walked through the doors. Members have included those preparing for work presentations, wedding speeches, or leadership roles, as well as those simply wanting to stop saying “um” every three words.
The club celebrated its silver anniversary last week in true Toastmasters style, featuring prepared speeches, impromptu speaking activities, plenty of laughter, and encouragement.
Club organisers stress that guests are always welcome to attend, whether they want to improve their speaking, grow in confidence, meet new people, or simply watch others bravely take the stage first.
Meetings provide a supportive environment for anyone looking to develop their professional or personal communication skills.
