The Female Football Gippsland finals series kicks off this week at the Boisdale Recreation Reserve across both youth girls and senior women’s divisions.
In the eastern division youth girls, competition heavyweights Bairnsdale and Traralgon will clash in a qualifying final, with the winner earning direct entry into the grand final.
The Redlegs finalised their preparations with a convincing 48-point victory over Sale City at Bairnsdale City Oval last week.
Ashtyn Stone led the way up forward with a six-goal performance, earning best-on-ground honours alongside teammates Jasmin O’Connor, Evelyn Gudgin, Dixie Clack, Jessica Grimsted, Sara Melrose and Sadie Stevens.
Sale City was best served by Taylah Mizzi, Paige Yann, Delila Martin, Ochre Fraser, Faith Milham and Peyton Komen.
Boisdale Briagolong and Woodside will battle in the youth girls elimination final. The Bombers enter the match well-rested following a week’s bye, while the Wildcats will look to bounce back after a loss to Morwell in the final round of the home-and-away season.
In the senior women’s competition, Boisdale Briagolong and Lindenow South square off in the qualifying final, while Woodside takes on Moe in an elimination final.

The Bombers defeated Nar Nar Goon by 104 points, led by Shania Dixon with a standout nine-goal effort and Chelsea Wain with four. Daniela Pirona, Maddison Trewin, Abbey Wyatt and Jocelyn Camenzuli were also key contributors for the winning side.
Lindenow was equally impressive, recording a 107-point win over Meeniyan Dumbalk United. Brodie Harris booted six goals and Carrie Jones added five, with Matilda Pendergast, Michaela Manning, Vicky Waddell and Siarra Peters controlling the midfield to provide consistent forward entries throughout the match.
