Two local shoppers have become overnight multi-millionaires after purchasing division one winning entries from the same Bairnsdale outlet in Saturday’s TattsLotto draw.
The winning entries were purchased at Bairnsdale Lotto on Bailey Street for draw 4697 on Saturday, July 25. Each ticket secured $2,222,222.23 as part of nine division one winning entries nationally.
Bairnsdale Lotto owner Anthony Scott said he was shocked to discover the outlet had sold two major winning tickets in a single draw.
“Selling one is fantastic, but we sold two. I can’t believe it,” Mr Scott said.
“It’s been about three years since we sold our last one. Congratulations to our winners — we wish them many happy years ahead.”
One of the lucky winners, a local retiree, admitted she struggled to sleep after checking her ticket late Saturday night.
“I checked it before I went to bed, but I didn’t sleep very well,” she said.
“I knew the numbers, but I thought, ‘No, it can’t be’. Deep down I knew I was going to win one day, but for it to finally come up is incredible.”
She said the windfall would make retirement significantly easier for her and her husband.
However, the second Bairnsdale winner has yet to come forward or claim their prize. While the ticket was registered to The Lott Members Club, lottery officials have been unable to contact the ticket holder.
The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart urged all local players to double-check their tickets.
“We’re urging all Bairnsdale TattsLotto players to check their entries as soon as possible,” Mr Hart said.
“If you discover you are holding the winning ticket, contact The Lott to begin the claim process.”
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4697 were 12, 43, 2, 22, 8 and 6, with supplementary numbers 28 and 13.
