Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club’s “Division Cool” hit the water under grey skies and rain on for their regular Sunday morning session.
The intrepid sailors persevered through tricky light northerly winds and completed a few short races before it was time to thaw out and get dry back on shore.
Some of the sailors said they weren’t cold, just wet, learning some valuable lessons and points for perseverance on another winter’s morning.
The sailors had earlier enjoyed a theory discussion about judging collision avoidance with other boats by using transit lines to the horizon.
It’s a great skill to learn and something that many experienced sailors (indeed many boaters in general) still struggle to grasp.
