Students from Lindenow Primary School and Eagle Point Primary School are preparing for an unforgettable adventure as they head to Melbourne to take part in the 2026 Victorian State Schools Spectacular.
The annual event brings together thousands of government school students from across Victoria for a massive celebration of music, dance and the performing arts, performing alongside a live orchestra, mass choir, principal vocalists and elite dancers in a professionally produced arena show.
Show week will run from Thursday, August 27 to Saturday, August 29.
During the trip, local students will take part in full-day rehearsals, learn how major stage productions come together and experience the excitement of performing in front of arena crowds.
For the East Gippsland cohort, the journey began months ago with weekly rehearsals. Selection was not based on prior dance ability or performance experience, but offered to students willing to have a go, work as a team and commit to the challenge.
Since then, students have shown impressive dedication as they mastered the choreography.
The trip to Melbourne is a major undertaking made possible through strong community support.
Families, school staff and local supporters have worked together to fundraise and help cover the considerable costs of travel, accommodation and participation.
Lindenow Primary School alone raised almost $3000 toward the trip — a significant effort reflecting the community’s commitment to creating opportunities for local children.
For many of the students, this will mark their first experience performing in a major stadium, traveling away with their school, or participating in a production on such a scale.
Beyond the stage lights, the experience focuses on building confidence, independence, resilience and a sense of pride.
The community wishes the students from Lindenow Primary School and Eagle Point Primary School the best of luck as they represent East Gippsland on the big stage.
