The 2026 Gippsland League Finals kick off this weekend, with Bairnsdale represented by four netball teams and two football sides, a great achievement in Gippsland’s major league competition.
Saturday is qualifying final day at Ted Summerton Reserve in Moe, with the fourths footballers kicking off the day with a 8.45am appointment with Leongatha.
Shortly after (9.05am) the 13 and under netballers will hit the court, up against Maffra, who they defeated last week.
At 10.05am, the 15 and under outfit take on a slick Leongatha outfit.
The big clashes just keep coming for the Redlegs, with 17 and under side taking on Moe at 11.05am.
All preludes to the big match of the day, when Drouin and Bairnsdale do battle in “A” grade at 2.20pm.
All the teams that are playing on Saturday, are hoping to win, setting up an opportunity to play for a spot in the grand final next week.
If they lose, they will play a do or die match next week, with the winner graduating to the preliminary final.
After a disappointing loss last week, Bairnsdale thirds will be required to front up on Sunday in the qualifying final against Leongatha at the Drouin Recreation Reserve.
Victory is non negotiable if they are to continue their quest for premiership glory in 2026.
